Kayla’s Story
Growing up in broken households was just the beginning of a turbulent journey that shaped her into a lost, insecure girl craving love, recognition, and a voice. Just as high school began to offer a glimmer of hope, she faced an unexpected challenge – becoming pregnant at 17. Abortion wasn't an option, so her parents presented her with a choice, and she had to make a tough decision: either find an adoptive family for her child or leave home behind and everything she knew to keep her son.
In retrospect, she can only describe it as the divine intervention of God that guided her to make the life-altering decision to keep her son and forge a path ahead. Her parents signed her off to a shelter when she was 7 months pregnant. It was a time of feeling even more lost, pain, and betrayal as she discovered that the father of her child had cheated on her, impregnated another woman, and chosen to marry her while she was living in the shelter with no way to contact him. She lost everything and everyone she thought she could count on.
In the midst of pain and suffering, she started resenting God and the world. Those were some of the darkest days of her life, and she lived in survival mode for years. After leaving the shelter, she became homeless, sleeping in her car to escape an abusive relationship she was in out of desperation for help. But she knew she couldn’t live this way anymore, raising her son in a victim mentality, and made a decision to turn her life around.
She started renting rooms, working 2-3 jobs, and decided to attend beauty school to provide for her son. She worked tirelessly, taking on night jobs at clubs to make ends meet. Over time, she returned to school to get her barber license and eventually opened her own salon suite, becoming the top lady barber in Newport Beach, CA. After a decade in the hair business, she still found herself bartending at night to sustain the life of a single mother with no financial support, raising her son in the costly South Orange County. Yet, she felt unfulfilled and knew she was meant for more in life.
One day, encouraged by her clients, she embarked on a new journey by obtaining her real estate license. She gradually let go of her hair clientele to assist a successful real estate agent. In no time, she immersed herself in the industry, and the financial rewards were unlike anything she had seen before. She transitioned from an assistant to a full-fledged agent on a thriving real estate team.
Her journey is a testament to the power of resilience and determination. From a place of hardship and uncertainty, she has risen to become a beacon of inspiration for millions.
Now, as a certified life coach, transformational speaker, and media host for the acclaimed podcast "Pain to Power," she empowers others to overcome adversity and seize their potential. With her remarkable success in the luxury real estate market, including a monumental sale at 24.5 million, she's proving that dreams are achievable with unwavering dedication. And yet, she's just scratching the surface of her potential. Her story resonates deeply, reminding us all that no obstacle is insurmountable and that, indeed, anything is possible.
